Save Money by Working From Home

I spent only $250 on gas from the beginning June to the end of August 2008 when gas averaged $4 a gallon in my region. How is it possible to spend so little when gas prices had reached an all time high?

Here's the gas saving rules I follow:

Combine trips so you go everywhere you need to in one trip. Buy gas at the cheapest gas station in town. Drive a fuel efficient car. Work from home.

A tank of gas for my Nissan Versa costs around $40 if I'm filling it up from dead empty. This tank of gas, which would last the typical commuter 3-5 days, lasts me 2 weeks.

So during the summer when everyone else is pinching pennies and going into debt for the high cost of gas, my family was largely unaffected by the change in gas prices. My husband and I still went on a beach vacation, took occasional trips to a mountain attraction 1 hour away, and still spent extra money on our hobbies and home.

Out of the 4 gas saving tips above, the only one that is any different from any other gas saving tip list is the advice to work from home.

Working from home can save you some serious money. Not only are you saving gas, you can also save on:

• Child care expenses - which sometimes add up to more than 9 percent of your monthly earnings.
  
  
• Lunch and snacks - those subs, chips, and candy bars really can add up over the course of a year.
  
  
• Clothing expenses - imagine never having to pay for dry cleaning again!
  
  
• Energy - if you're not wearing 7 different outfits a week, think of how much less laundry you'll have to do.

Unfortunately most people don't know or trust all the ways they can make money by working from home.

You might be very scared of failure. You don't want get your hopes up that you can do something new and it will make you more money, only to be dissappointed when it doesn't work out. Most family members and friends feel the same way and will discourage new ideas because they don't want you to fail.

So how can you legitimately work from home and succeed
in elliminating the expense of high gas prices from your family budget?
