Red Snappers Longarm Clamps
Load Your Quilts Quickly and Easily with Red Snappers!
Red Snappers are a longarm clamp "snapping" system for rolling rail quilt frames. These durable, high quality plastic rods and clamps fit and snap to all three rails.
Red snappers eliminate the need for pinning to leader cloth as well as any form of basting so they truly are a dream come true!
In order to use Red Snappers, you will need to alter your longarm leader cloth to fit the tube. This takes around an hour to sew all your leader cloth, but it will save you hours with every quilt you load from now on!
Quilt tops and backs are secured over the rod and the adjustable rods and clamps are snapped to hold the fabric in place.
This set is all you need to easily and efficiently load your quilt on your longarm frame.
This Red Snapper system will fit 12 foot frames. It can fit longer frames if you use rods and clamps on only two rails.
Note - in the video above, I'm using the original, longer version of Red Snappers. This product has been updated with shorter rods and clamps to make it easier to ship and use.
Instructions for Installing the Red Snappers
Sewing the Casing - Fold over the long edge of your leader cloth (3/4 inch) and stitch along the edge to form a casing. The edge to fold and stitch is the edge you would normally pin along (not the edge with elastic).
Repeat for all the leader cloth you're using with Red Snappers.
Connect the Rods - Insert dowels into the ends of the hollow rods and connect enough together to create a long rod a few inches longer than your leader cloth. Repeat for all the rails you're using with Red Snappers.
Insert the Rods - Insert rods into the 3/4" casing on the edge of the leader and reattach the leader cloth to your frame rails.
Lay your backing fabric evenly across the canvas edge. Snap a 2-inch clamp in the center and outer edges to hold temporarily. Snap on the larger clamps, working from the center. Remove the 2" clamps when necessary. Attach quilt top and backing to each rail in the same way.
If you have a frame smaller than 10 feet, no worries! You can easily cut the pieces shorter to fit your frame.
