What are Pinmoor Pin Anchors?
Pinmoor Pin Anchors are simple silicon nuggets that help you baste your quilts quicker and easier than ever before. They're non-toxic and very easy to use - just push a Pinmoor onto the sharp end of a straight pin. The dense silicon material acts as a pin stopper, anchoring the pin in place and protecting you from the sharp end.

Available in a variety of pretty colors, Pinmoor pin anchors are useful for many sewing and quilting techniques!
How to Use Pinmoors for Quilting
Pinmoors make quilt basting easier and faster! First layer the quilt backing, batting and quilt top to create the quilt sandwich. Next, lock the layers together with sturdy, long straight pins like Magic Longarm Pins.

It's easiest to insert the straight pins through all the layers of a quilt sandwich if you give them a little bend in the middle with your fingers. Insert the pin, making sure it goes through all three layers of the quilt, then bring it back up to the quilt surface.
Press the Pinmoor over the sharp end of the pin. This acts like a pin stopper, locking the pin in place until you're ready to remove it.
Why Use Pinmoor Instead of Safety Pins?
Pinmoors are especially helpful for quilters with arthritis and joint pain because they're easier to handle and secure than safety pins. They are also faster to install and don't require any additional tools to baste your quilt.
Removing pins anchored with Pinmoors is super easy too! Simply pull on the rubber end of the Magic Pin and the Pinmoor will slip off. No more fighting to close and open bent safety pins.
How Many Pinmoors Will I Need?
A pack of 100 Pinmoors is enough to baste a crib-size quilt. If you decide to baste multiple quilts, or have a particularly large project, you will need more packs.

My collection of Pinmoor pin anchors grew quite a bit over the years and I kept them neatly arranged in clear, clean Talenti Ice Cream containers. The best part of this quilting tool is they never wear out - even my oldest Pinmoors still grip and anchor straight pins perfectly!
Leah Day's Favorite Quilt Basting Method
When I started quilting, basted my quilts using bent safety pins and had to use a special tool to close them all. This worked, but every time I basted a big quilt, the safety pins tore up my hands. I also often ran into them while free motion quilting, which was quite annoying.
I began quilt basting using Pinmoor pin anchors and straight pins in 2012 and immediately noticed the difference when basting many big quilts. Not only were these pin anchors easier and faster to use, I also found them much more convenient to remove during the quilting process.
