What's New in Version 2

Improved presser foot lifter - The #1 gripe about the original Little Rebel is the stiff presser foot lifter. Version 2 machines have a completely redesigned mechanism with a metal lifter bar. The foot now lifts smoothly to two heights: stop at the first level for sewing and patchwork, lift to the second level to shift a bulky quilts through the machine.

Longer feed dogs, more teeth - The extended feed dogs catch fabric more securely, so you need to lift the foot less often. The result is more accurate feeding and less bunching, especially with thicker materials.

Adjustable-height piecing foot - I personally struggled to bind quilts on my V1 Little Rebel. Now the V2 machines have an adjustment slot on the sewing foot instead of a single hole. The etched line on the foot indicates the typical location of the foot for piecing quilts. Loosen the screw and raise the foot above the etched line to sew bulky materials or quilt binding — the same foot now handles piecing and binding at any thickness.

Glass Optical Encoder - The stitch regulator on the V2 Little Rebel has also been improved with a glass optical encoder. This allows the laser to better read your movement when quilting with bright and dark fabrics as well as plush fabrics like Minky.

More speed levels - The same speed selector buttons are on the front of the machine, but each speed setting now has more levels, giving you more control over stitch length at any given speed. This matters most when running the Little Rebel with the QMX system on a Cutie Breeze frame — more speed options mean you can select exactly stitch length you want.

Which Version Do I Have?

If you purchased your Little Rebel before 2026, you have an original, Version 1 sewing machine. If you purchased in 2026, a quick way to tell - look at the presser foot lifter.

The Version 2 presser foot lifter is a huge improvement for the Little Rebel sewing machine. Not only does the foot lift smoothly, the two stopping levels make it much easier to slip materials in position. If you want to primarily piece quilts with a large throat sewing machine, you will want newer Little Rebel!

It Looks Like a Long Arm… What is this Machine?

The Little Rebel is a sewing machine with large throat space. It has feed dogs which enables this machine to do far more than quilting. We also include three ¼-inch patchwork feet, a zipper foot, and guide bar to help with wider seams.

Unlike dedicated long arm machines that are only used for machine quilting, the Little Rebel is a true hybrid:

For Traditional Sewing and Quilt Piecing:

• Attach the presser foot holder and snap on any of the five included presser feet.
• Align the edges of your fabric with the perfectly etched lines on the needle plate for accurate sewing and quilt piecing.
• Control the thread flow through the tension disc to achieve perfect tension between the top and bobbin threads.

For Free-Motion Quilting:

• Attach the Quilting Needle Plate and the machine will automatically change settings for machine quilting.
• Choose between traditional foot pedal-controlled quilting, stitch regulated quilting, and manual mode (also called steady speed) quilting.
• Ample space to spread out your hands, get the quilt in position and control your quilting designs.

For Frame Quilting:

• You can use the Little Rebel Sewing Machine on ANY Grace Company quilting frame – past or present!
• Attach the Start / Stop Stitch Controller to the handlebars to control the machine from the front or back of the frame.

I understand the challenges of machine quilting, after all, I did quilt a king on a home machine! The Little Rebel is designed to solve our biggest quilting headaches:

Challenge - Quilting big quilts on a tiny sewing machine is annoyingly slow and hard on our back and shoulders.

Solution - The Little Rebel has a 13-inch harp space, which is more than double the size of the average home sewing machines. If you place your Little Rebel in the sewing table I recommend for it, you won't be stuffing and cramming the quilt through the arm. You'll be quilting - and enjoying it!

Challenge - Constantly running out of bobbin thread, which stops the quilting process dead in its tracks.

Solution - The Little Rebel uses the same M-sized bobbins as Grace longarms. These bobbins hold twice the amount of thread as regular bobbins and allow you to quilt longer and with less interruption.

Challenge - You want to try quilting on a frame, but using your foot pedal is awkward and uncomfortable. 

Solution - The Little Rebel comes with a stitch controller, which puts a start / stop and needle up / down button on your handlebars exactly where you want it! Quilt from the front or back of your quilting frame. The stitch controller easily attaches to the handlebars with a thumb screw so you can move it whenever you need to.
