Master Ruler Quilting with our 3 piece Basic Ruler Kit!
The Basic Ruler Quilting Kit comes with the Slice, Mini Slide, and Super Slide Rulers. Choose from two thicknesses: 1/8-inch for home machines or 1/4-inch for longarm machines. Please enter your machine's make and model so we can be sure you've selected the right ruler!
Note: Some home machines like Bernina and Janome are designed to work with the thicker 1/4-inch rulers. If you've purchased rulers in the past, simply measure the thickness to know which works for you.
Ruler foot quilting is a new way to free motion quilt using rulers or templates to guide the design. Simply position your ruler on your quilt, press it against a ruler quilting foot and gently steer both the quilt and the ruler through your machine.
Be sure to add something grippy to the back of the rulers like True Grips so they don't slip as you guide the quilt and the ruler through the machine.
The Slice ruler is perfectly designed for machine quilting on any type of machine. You can use this ruler to space lines 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 inch apart. You can also quilt fun angles and stitch around the end to create stacked brick designs.
This Slice Ruler was specifically designed for both ruler foot quilting AND to create a fun quilting shape. You can cut 18 degree wedges from this template to create a 20 petal Dresden plate block.
How did I make that curvy binding or cut the scalloped edge on this quilt?
I used the Mini Slide ruler! This ruler has gentle curves on both sides that make it easy to quilt evenly spaced curving lines. You can also use this ruler for cutting too.
For deeper curves, and to cover a larger space, you'll also want the Super Slide ruler. This ruler is a few inches longer and the curve is much deeper, so it can create beautiful effects on your quilts.
Both the Super Slide and Mini Slide are Continuous Line rulers. If you stop quilting 1/4 inch from the edge, you can reposition the ruler and continue quilting the repeating curve. This will help you create beautiful borders with perfectly spaced lines every time.
Note: Newer Bernina machines with the #72 ruler foot can use either the home or longarm thickness, but Bernina recommends using the thicker 1/4-inch thick rulers (for longarm machines) with this foot.
