Machine quilting can feel easier with these three awesome tools!
This Machine Quilting Kit comes with the following tools for machine quilting on any stationary home sewing machine or sit down longarm:
Free Motion Glider - This super-sized glider is ideal for making your quilts easier to move under your needle. The special Teflon sheet is super slick on the top, but grippy on the bottom so you can attach it to your machine and table top easily before quilting.
Place this big 12 x 18-inch sheet horizontal on your machine if your harp space is 6 inches or bigger. Place it vertically if your have a smaller machine.
By reducing all the friction between the table top and the quilt, you will now be able to move the quilt much easier, and with far less strain on your arms, shoulders, and back.
Machingers Quilting Gloves - Get a grip! Machingers are lightweight nylon gloves with rubber tips that grip the surface of the quilt, allowing you to move it exactly where you want it to go. Students trying these gloves in class have often reported instantly feeling "in control" over their quilts. Click here for a sizing chart.
Isacord Thread - Are you tired of your thread breaking constantly? It's time to try my favorite thread for machine quilting, applique, and embroidery! Isacord is a 40 weight polyester embroidery thread that is thin, strong, and wonderfully resistant to thread breaks.
The #1 reason why quilters struggle with machine quilting is due to using thread that is too thick or too weak for the job. Give this thread a try and see if it works for you!
Special note from Leah: Since first learning to quilt in 2005, I've tried a lot of quilting tools. Out of everything I've tried from hoops to sticky lotion, these three tools have remained my constant companions for machine quilting
I know they work because whenever I forget to use them, my stitches are noticeably different: bigger, less controlled, and it feels harder to move the quilt on the machine.
If you're tired of fighting with your quilts or machine, give yourself a break and start quilting with tools that will make free motion quilting not just easy, but fun!
How will the Machine Quilting Kit help me?
Machine quilting feels difficult for three primary reasons:
- It feels hard to move a quilt on a stationary home machine or sit down longarm.
- It's hard to control the movement precisely.
- Thread breaks are really frustrating.
These three tools address these three major pain points of machine quilting. The Free Motion Glider will reduce friction between your quilt and your machine, making the quilt feel easier to move.
Precise control is the difference between beautiful quilting and messy quilting. Machingers Quilting Gloves will give you better control by increasing your grip of the quilt so you can move it more efficiently without having to clench your hands into fists.
Finally, Isacord Thread is a wonderfully thin, strong thread that is very resistant to breaking. Before finding this thread, I could free motion quilt Pebbling at all because every time I travel stitched, my thread broke.
You CAN travel stitch with this thread, build it up, and even do thread painting if you want. It's a wonderfully versatile thread that works great for machine quilting, embroidery, applique, and longarm quilting too!
