Hello My Quilting Friends! Today I have a terrific interview with Emily King. Emily is a new quilter, photographer, wife, and mother and today we’re chatting about how she finds balance with creativity and family. Enjoy watching this episode with the video player below:
Quilting and Creative Photography with Emily King
Emily is a terrific photographer and has shared many beautiful photos to her Instagram account @EmilyMKingPhotos
Emily uses two apps to edit her photos: Mextures and Photoshop Express. She doesn't try to edit all her photos at once. Instead she focuses on one photo at a time to share on Instagram. This is something I've struggled with personally, mostly because I try to batch edit too many photos at once.
Emily is also a new quilter. She just started quilting this past March after inheriting her grandmother's sewing machine. Emily is selling a few of her handmade items in her at the shop Emily's Quilting Corner.
Emily also runs an essential oil shop on Etsy called The Healing Homestead.
When it comes to balancing life and all her creative pursuits, Emily and I are very similar. She is not a morning person, but she wakes up early to have a little time to herself. Emily's favorite book is Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay which is about those early years of motherhood when your children are very little and very needy.
It was lots of fun to get to know Emily in this podcast and I hope that you will check out her beautiful photos on Instagram too!
Let's go quilt,
Leah Day
