WHAT IS QMX FOR LONGARMS? 

QMX is computerized quilting: instead of guiding every stitch by hand, you choose a design on a tablet app, roll your longarm over your quilt to place the motif, and the machine stitches it out precisely.

The quick-release belts let you switch to free motion quilting in seconds — no more loosening belts! — so you have complete control over how you quilt at all times.

How is this different from QMX for Domestics?

QuiltMotion X Foundations for Domestics is a very similar computerized quilting system, but it is only compatible with:

• Domestic sewing machines
• Only attaches to the Cutie Breeze Frame

QuiltMotion X for Longarms is the computerized quilting software you'll need if you are quilting on a Grace longarm machine or frame other than the Cutie Breeze.

HOW IT WORKS — Pick. Place. Quilt.

Every project, from your first pantograph to a pretty flower block design, follows the same three steps.

1. Pick a design. Browse the built-in library, buy from the Grace Design Store, or import your own designs.
2. Place it on your quilt. Roll your longarm over your quilt block and align the needle with the four corners. Tap the nodes on the screen to "place" the design using your quilt as a guide. The tablet gives you a preview of how the design will appear, fit perfectly into your quilt block.
3. Quilt it. Tap start and QMX stitches it out. If a thread breaks or a bobbin runs out, you can repair the pattern easily by navigating back to the exact stop point and pick up right where your left off — no ruined block, no starting over.

Computer Tablet - With QMX you don't have to be computer savvy. A tablet is included with the software preinstalled so assemble the hardware on your frame and longarm machine and you're ready to start quilting.

Free Motion Quilting Mode - Easily disengage the belts for free motion quilting or ruler quilting without having to loosen them by hand.

Needle Position Tracking - The QMX system tracks your movement when you're free motion quilting so it knows where the machine has moved while the belts are disengaged.

Frame Boundary Mapping - Record your maximum frame space and the QMX system will automatically update for the fabric-roll growth.

Over-the-Air Updates - Update via the app using a bluetooth BLE connection to the machine hardware.

Channel Locks - Easily lock the machine to stitch straight horizontal or vertical lines. Far more accurate than our mechanical channel locks!

Design Library - Collection of designs to quilt built into the tablet. All levels will have 50 designs preloaded. Discovery has an additional 10 designs and Mastery level gets an additional 20 designs to quilt from day 1.

Grace Design Store - Browse, buy, and download new quilting patterns instantly to your tablet. All tiers will include a subscription to the Grace Design Store for a set period of time.

Design Import - Yes! ALL tiers can import designs! Import SVG or QLI files to your Grace Design Store account and they will appear instantly in your QMX Design Library.

Who Should Wait on QMX for Longarms (Honest Talk)

Several quilters have reached out to me for advice and insight on this new computerized quilting system. Here's my honest advice on who should wait to purchase:

• You're using a domestic sewing machine -  This QMX system is for Grace longarms and the Little Rebel only. Click Here to find QMX Foundations for Domestics.
• You need it in your hands this week - This is a preorder and it will ship in November / December 2026. If you need to begin computerized quilting today, Click Here to check out QCT 6.
• Computer quilting isn't your thing - You love to free hand, free motion quilt or follow pantographs, or do ruler quilting and have no interest in automation. QMX lets you switch back to hand guided free motion any time, but if you never want to automate, this isn't for you.
• You Use QCT 6 Gold Card Features Daily - If you are already an advanced QCT 6 user and you use these features daily, you will want to stick with your QCT 6 system for right now. Why? QMX Mastery will not have ALL the QCT Gold Card features immediately. Features like Pattern eClipse will be added to the system within the next 8-12 months.

Frequently Asked Questions about QMX for Longarms

Which Grace longarms does QMX work with?

All current Grace Longarm machines and the Little Rebel sewing machine will work with QMX for longarms. This includes the Grace 16X, 16X Elite, 19X Elite, and 21X Elite. The automation hardware is identical across every tier and every machine, so you can easily upgrade your software level within the tablet anytime.

Legacy longarms including the Qnique 15R, Qnique 15Pro, Qnique 19, Qnique 21, and Qnique 21 Pro are NOT currently compatible with QMX for longarms. We are working on an update to make these machines compatible.

What's the difference between Foundations, Discovery, and Mastery?

Same hardware; the tier unlocks more software. Foundations covers all-over pantographs and basic blocks — everything you need to finish your first automated quilt.

Discovery adds design editing, edge-to-edge with stagger, custom shapes, and project saving. Mastery adds the full professional suite: full-quilt planning, point-to-point stitching, fabric compensation, and multi-block placement.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes. You'll be able to upgrade anytime within the computer tablet to unlock new features and quilting designs.

When does QMX ship?

QMX is on preorder and ships November 2026. Reserving now holds your place in line and locks in launch pricing. Grace has a strong track record with preorder like this — the last launch actually shipped early!

How does the $100 reservation work?

Add your QMX to cart and pay only $100 today! The $100 holds your spot in line and locks your launch price. It's applied toward your order when your QMX is ready. Before your QMX system can ship, we will need you to complete the purchase for the remaining balance. 

If you are trading in QCT, you'll also need to ship in your QCT motor box before you QMX order is released.

I already own a QCT system — can I trade in?

Yes and you can receive $2000 off your new QMX for Longarms! You will need to send in your QCT motor box. We will notify you when your QMX is ready to ship so you can disassemble your QCT and mail in the required hardware.

We know you'll be busy quilting in November and December, so simply sending us the tracking number for your QCT hardware. Once we're sure it's on the way, and your QMX order will be released.
