Inspiration for Eternal Love

I designed this goddess quilt when my son was turning eight years old, but the inspiration has been in my heart since the day he was born. The very second I touched him, I became an entirely different person - a mother. My body was different, my mind felt rewired, and my heart had expanded a thousand times to hold more love than I ever thought possible.

Holding James that first time I suddenly understood the true love I’d only read about in fairy tales.

This goddess quilt can have many meanings. I designed it simply as a celebration of love between mother and child. The mother holds her child with both arms wrapped around the small bundle. Her eyes are closed, taking in this new being she has brought into the world.

Her hair represents the massive change to her life. Like the flow of water, she will need to flow with the changes to her body, her mind, her family, and her life. She will never be the same again. A mother is a goddess of eternal love.
