Begin pantograph quilting with the Qnique Laser Light for your longarm quilting machine! This laser light attaches to either the front or rear handlebars of any Qnique longarm machine.

Using this laser light as your guide, you can follow printed designs like pantographs or paper quilting stencils. This simple style of quilting will cover your quilts quickly with beautiful texture stitched on a consistent scale.

How to Install the Longarm Laser Light Bracket

1. First remove the encoder from your longarm machine. Unplug the cable attached to the back of your machine, then loosen the small set screw on the encoder to release the spring. Unscrew the larger wheel screw and set the encoder in a safe place.

2. Carefully tilt your longarm to the left to access the right wheels. Ask for help from a friend as tilting your Qnique longarm over in this direction can feel very awkward and can easily slip and strike your frame tracks.

3. Attach the laser light bracket between the wheel mounts as shown in this photo:

4. Return the machine to the bottom carriage and reattach the encoder. Remember to attach the encoder wheel screw first, then put tension on the encoder spring and tighten the smaller screw. Finally, plug in your encoder and the longarm laser light on the back of your machine.

Quilting Following a Marked Line

There are a few different ways you can follow a marked line or design using your laser light for longarm quilting machine. You can attach the Qnique laser light to the front handlebars and place a small block design, like the 6 inch flower design from our Spring Flower Stencil Collection next to the block you are quilting.

Roll the machine around, double checking the location of the laser light AND the location of the longarm's needle. Make sure the design is centered and will be quilted into the area as desired. Your eyes will be on the printed design, not on your needle, so it's important to double check that you've placed the design properly.

Quilt the design by following it using the laser light attached to your longarm machine.

Laser Light for Pantograph Quilting

Pantograph quilting is a fun way to cover your quilt with a single design, quilted edge-to-edge on a consistent scale. In this case, we attach a long pantograph - a repeating, continuous line design - to the back of our quilting frame.

I offer downloadable pantograph designs so you an print out the perfect pantograph to fit your frame and quilting machine! Click Here to find our Pantograph Designs.

You'll need to have a back table on your quilting frame to support the pantograph design as well as rear handlebars attached to your Qnique longarm machine.

Do you have a Q-Zone Frame without a back table? Click Here to find table inserts to add to your quilting frame!

We attach the pantograph to the back table and use the laser light for longarm quilting machine to follow the design. This means quilting from the back of your machine, and it can definitely change your quilting process!

Here's a series of tutorials I created to help you learn how to use our pantograph designs and quilt successfully using your laser light and rear handlebars:
