If you're wanting to build new skills for piecing and machine quilting on your home machine, it's time to quilt along with me! I've been sharing quilt-as-you-go sampler quilt alongs since 2012. Each project covers every step of the process from preparing your fabrics to cutting, piecing, and quilting on a home sewing machine or longarm.
Click the links below to learn more about each quilt along and find the pattern or book required to join in the fun:
Each quilt along is a little different from the last and the number of posts have varied from 20 to over 100! Some years we have created multiple quilts together and other years we've made just one quilt block by block.
The Quilt-As-You-Go Quilt Alongs are specially designed to help you master quilting on a home machine. For these quilt alongs, you first piece and quilt all the blocks separately, then put them together to create the quilt at the very end.

Where do I ask questions about a quilt along?
Often the best place to ask questions is on the quilting tutorial you have questions about. The video or blog post will have a comments section for you to post and I generally answer questions every 2-3 days.
There are a lot of things that I've covered multiple times before so I'll save you some time and link up specific videos to answer the most frequently asked questions here:
Is prewashing fabric really necessary? Why?
Why do you use starch? I thought it was bad...
Do you Use a Scant or 1/4-inch seam?
Why don't you use spray basting?
Isn't polyester thread evil? I heard it was bad for quilting...
Are there corrections to any of these quilt along patterns?
For the most part, any corrections needed for these patterns have already been fixed and the new files updated.
If there are corrections to a pattern, it will be posted on the page you can purchase that pattern. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page with the "add to cart" button and check in the frequently asked questions area to see if there are corrections posted.
Is there a new quilt along for me to join?
After the Friendship Sampler Quilt Along in 2019, we are taking a break from sharing big, year-long quilt alongs.
I have lots of fun projects planned that I can't wait to start! I'm writing a sequel to Mally the Maker and the Queen in the Quilt and planning lots of fun projects to encourage kids to create.
I'm working on more clothing patterns for Ms. Bunny and more dolls as well.
I also have plans for quilt panels and possibly patterns of my goddess quilt designs.
And of course, each week I share a new Hello My Quilting Friends Podcast and quilting tutorials. This is the awesome thing about quilting - there is always something new to learn and more skills to build!
I hope you'll join our past quilt alongs and take the first step to mastering quilting on your home machine with me. If your goal is to quilt your own quilts, it's time to start building that skill right now.
